The second edition of FRANCISCAN FOOTPRINTS: Pilgrimage to Assisi is now available in ebook and paperback formats.

There are two sections to the book, the first consisting of word images and photography derived from a September 2002 pilgrimage led by Brother Alan Gaebel to Assisi and the surrounding caves, cloisters and countryside once frequented by Francis of Assisi.

An appendix contains original journal notations by some of the pilgrims.

The second section is a collection of brief biographies of sixteen Third Order Secular Franciscans witnessing to serenity in their lives despite difficulties and sufferings.

Dear Gloria,

How can one adequately thank you for such a book of Franciscan testimonials. There are several aspects of your wonderful presentation that I am particularly touched by.

For one, the stories of your fraternity members shared appear in low key humility describing individual crosses few of us could easily accept these days. Yet the determination of their spirit and the love of our Lord in their lengthy lives shine though in each story.

The other aspect of the Franciscan love demonstrated and visible is the joyous sharing and welcoming in each Fraternity of members new and old alike. The learned as well as the graduates of long hard and occasionally lonely lives.

My hope remains that all members of the Franciscan Family at large will avail themselves of this beautiful and very insightful book that presents the Franciscan lived experience of our days in such clear terms.

May the good Lord bless and keep you and your family.

Fraternally in St. Francis – Les Alberti, ofs
